Jennie Gilliam’s Birthday

On February 20, 2008, members of the choir of FPC made a surprise visit to Jennie Gilliam on the occasion of her 98th birthday. In addition to singing “Happy Birthday” the choir sang “All Creatures of our God and King,” during which Jennie played the bells provided by Ann Forbis (see picture), and “I’ll Fly Away.” Belinda Honea sang “Trees” and was joined by Steve Watson in singing “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” It was hard to tell who had a better time, Jennie or the choir!

2008 MOMENTS TO REMEMBER

The Third Annual “Moments to Remember” event was deemed a great success by those who attended. The youth of FPC did an outstanding job of serving the approximately 80 people in attendance. Thanks to Judy and Charlie Blue, Jo and Bill Beck, Punky and Wally Penberthy, and Sidney & Buck Thomason for their help in preparing the excellent meal. Of course, the highlight of the evening was the entertainment once more orchestrated by Belinda Honea. Belinda and Steve Watson charmed the audience with their musical talent, accompanied by Ann Forbis. Not so charming but entertaining in a different way was the FPC version of “Hee Haw” including a cast of Jo and Bill Beck, Julie and Bryan Davis, Sue and Sherrod Fielden, Laura Jenkins, Punky and Wally Penberthy, Lori Symank, Sidney and Buck Thomason, and Steve Watson. The crowd also learned why Jo and Bill, Frances and Mark Rose, and Sue and Tom Podlucky have been so happily married for all these years as they answered questions from Sue and Sherrod Fielden in the “Oldie Wed” game.

Be sure to watch for the announcement of next year’s “Moments”! It is a wonderful event sponsored by our church.

Helping with set-up and decorating were Marschell Allen, Pam Allen, Lori Symank, Maebelle Blewett, and Marie Whitehead. Youth participaint in Moments” were Jarrad Fossett, Ashlee Symank, Laine Davis, Justin Allen, Jordan Allen, Grant Shane, Hanna Gardea, Alex Gardea, Carigan Honea, Ciara Honea, Zane Reiss, Lea Beck, Lynn Beck, and Julia Villapondo.
